King David worshipping God, sitting on the floor of the temple

As you rise in life, never forget the journey. It will keep you humble, it will keep you grateful.

One of the most incredible stories in the Bible is the story of David. A shepherd boy who became the king of one of the most powerful nations of the earth. King David remains a significant figure in contemporary Israel, symbolizing a period often regarded as Israel's "golden age" and embodying the ideal of a model king. What more? In the Bible, God referred to King David as "a man after mine own heart".

David was far from perfect, but one thing David never did was that he never forgot he was once a shepherd boy. This kept him humble and grateful.

King David was a mighty warrior who raised many warriors after him. Yet, he would often sit on the floor of the temple and recount where God took him from, a shepherd boy.

In those days, floors were not made of tiles or fancy woods, but stones and earth were common materials for floors. Also, kings were supreme in those days. Yet, King David would come and sit on the floor of the temple and worship God, just to recount and remind himself of his humble beginning.

Now, there were people born in the palace, who thought David was weird and extreme. Michal was one of them. Michal was David's wife and was a proper princess, born and raised in the palace. On one of those occasions, King David was dancing and worshipping The Lord and Michal was disgusted. David could have been embarrassed and stopped but rather told Michal that the dance was before The Lord who made him king.

David also never forgot great friends who helped him on the way to the top. Jonathan was David's loyal friend who died in battle. David not only remembered him but extended kindness to the grandchildren of his friend, Jonathan.

In a world where everybody claims to be self-made and takes pride in it, remember that no one gets to the top alone.

Never forget where God took you from and those who helped you along the way.

Stay humble. Stay grateful. Always remember.
