Two friends walking along - Faith and Friendship - Tell the Boys

People generally don’t care how much time you spend in church or how many Bible verses you can recite—what truly matters is if it translates into a life worth emulating. A life marked by kindness, love, truth, and great results.

A significant part of my salvation story stems from my choice of friends in high school—D and F. Long before I gave my life to Christ, I enjoyed sneaking off with them to church, even though my dad disapproved.

My dad didn’t like the idea of me going to church with them, yet he couldn’t forbid our friendship. Why? Because they were extremely well-behaved, respectful, and came from great families. We also studied together and consistently led our class in academics.

If D and F had lived unattractive lives or performed poorly in school despite claiming to be Christians, my dad would have told me to stop associating with them. That decision might have hindered—or at least delayed—my journey to Christ.

Contrast this with another group of boys I started hanging out with later—K and his friends. My dad immediately disapproved. He believed they would lead me astray and compromise my innocence. And he was right. These boys, though churchgoers, had girlfriends and indulged in behaviour that D and F would never have entertained. My dad told me to stop associating with them and looking back, I’m grateful he did.

D and F didn’t preach to me, but their lives served as a powerful influence that eventually led me to Christ.

Matthew 5:16 says:
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Years later, D’s elder brother introduced me to Life Oasis International Church—a church family that has transformed my life and family in every possible way.

At one time, my prayer for my children was that God would bless them with great friends. But now, I also pray that God will make them the kind of great friends that others would be blessed to have—friends like D and F.

So, pray this prayer also:

Lord Jesus, make me a great friend that others would be blessed to have—friends like D and F - and that my friendship with them would eventually lead them to you, Jesus. Amen.

So, strive to be a friend like D and F. Be a friend who not only knows the Bible but lives in a way that positively influences others and draws them to Christ. Decades from now, may people thank God that their paths crossed with yours.

Also, if you are yet to give your life to Jesus Christ, today is the best day to make that decision and it will be the greatest decision of your life. If you want to invite Jesus Christ to come into your life, please, pray this prayer:

Heavenly Father,
I come to you in the name of Jesus,
I know that I'm a sinner,
I cannot save myself, But Jesus died for me,
He shed his blood that I might be saved
Today, I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour
Come into my life, be my Lord
satan, from today, I have nothing to do with you anymore
Jesus is my Lord and I will live for him all the days of my life
Father, I thank you because you have saved me
In Jesus name. Amen.

If you have just prayed that prayer, Congratulations 😁. You just got translated from darkness to Light.
